That little purple building at East Nashville's 5 Points--known as the East Nashville Performing Arts Co-Op--has most recently been used as a music rehearsal space and an informal venue for music showcases. Now, entrepreneur John Conlon has added the Post Depression Theatre sign to the facade, with plans to host more varied programming. This new venture offers a laboratory-theater situation committed to regional writers as well as the development of actors. But Conlon also imagines PDT--with its hippie-pad aesthetic--as a potential venue for poetry readings, comedy, improv and other primarily non-musical events. The new era kicks off with this sketch comedy show featuring contributions by area writers Emily Steele, Amy Delvin, Christy Eidson and Kayti Protos, plus Los Angeles-based Syd Lovelace. The scripts are, for the most part, performed by their creators. (Those interested in contacting Conlon regarding use of the space may do so at 944-3544 or by emailing johnconlon2@comcast.net.)
