A List 

Herewith is our list of potential new editors for The Tennessean and how they would change the paper, good and bad:

♦ Jimmy Lewis

For: Would add credibility and insight to paper's coverage of vice.

Against: Would probably be the main topic.

♦ John Seigenthaler

For: Unimpeachable track record in state and national journalism.

Against: With a job at the Freedom Forum, who needs work?

♦ Willy Stern

For: Tenacious, uncompromising journalist whose specialty is investigative work.

Against: Tenacious, uncompromising journalist whose specialty is investigative work.

♦ Hedy Weinberg

For: Sure grasp of complex socio-political issues facing the city and country.

Against: Eek! A liberal!

♦ Ozzie, the Nashville Sounds mascot

For: Gives the paper automatic appeal to sizable sports-loving demographic; can settle workplace disputes with a slash of his two sharp incisors.

Against: May be overqualified.

♦ Ms. Cheap

For: Cost-saving initiatives will please higher-ups at Gannett.

Against: Printing on recycled paper towels potentially a bad idea.

♦ Dave Green

For: Short name will save valuable space in staff listings; doesn't write a wine column.

Against: Space insufficient.
