A List

State film commissioners have coaxed the best of Hollywood (and British comedy) to turn Tennessee’s ongoing tax drama into a blockbuster movie. Writers and casting directors are still at work for the screen event of 2003, but here’s what we know so far:

♦ Working titles include I Am Don, the story of a mentally challenged governor and his attempts to find truth, love and a way to pass a statewide income tax. There’s also Collateral Damage, whose story line would focus more on the Tennessee General Assembly and its efforts to veer the state toward bankruptcy.

♦ From the director of Talk Radio, Nixon, JFK and Wall Street—Oliver Stone

♦ Don Sundquist played by Leslie Nielsen

♦ Jimmy Naifeh by Ben Kingsley

♦ John Ford by Ike Turner

♦ Bob Rochelle by James Gandolfini

♦ Marsha Blackburn by Dyan Cannon

♦ Steve Cohen by Danny DeVito

♦ Joe Haynes by Steve Martin

♦ Phil Bredesen by Keeping Up Appearances’ Clive Swift

♦ Van Hilleary by Chevy Chase

♦ Larry Daughtrey by Gene Hackman

♦ Phil Valentine by Howard Stern

♦ Steve Gill by Tom Arnold
