A Face in the Crowd

CLARENCE HANNA

How long have you had your dogs? I've had Chester 10 years—he's the brown male—and Suzie 10 years also. I've had them since they where puppies. I got 'em down in Chattanooga. Tic Tic I've only had for four years.

Where are you from? Originally from Michigan, and for the past seven years I had a job here in Nashville until I was in an accident that totaled my truck. And then I lost my job because I couldn't get back and forth to work.

Do you get help from the mission? No, they can't really help me because of the dogs, and they're so attached to me and me to them that I couldn't get rid of them. People help me out. The dogs are well cared for. I've got a 20-pound bag of feed on the cart and plenty of blankets and things to make 'em comfortable. Sometimes I collect cans and metal to sell.

What does the world need right now? A little more caring for one another. Right now I'm just taking it one day at a time.
