The pizzas served by City House, Lockeland Table and Porta Via, for example, are much closer to real Italian pizza than the places you say you like. Those places serve Americanized pizza.

Whether or not the pizza in Nashville is 9th best or not, it sure it good to see the city getting so much from so many odd places.

Bella Nashville (hummus or country ham)
Desanos (suasage & broccoli rabe)
Porta Via (Quattro Formaggi)

But there is a large gap between the top two and the next two on this list and there are a lot of places that I haven't made it to yet...

Joey's is #1 here, in this New Yorker's opinion. Wish they'd open another location - north of town, if you're listening, Joey.

Bella Nashville: ate there once, pie (margherita) had no discernable flavor, crust was underwhelming.
Haven't made it to De$anos yet, I'm saving up!

Just my 2 cents about the list -- I grew up in Providence and it doesn't surprise me one bit to see it so high on the list. RI has one of the highest concentrations of Italian-Americans in the country.
