I don't recall anyone in here (especially me) saying anyone should be able to own anything w/o at least a background check. If so, by all means, please be kind enough to point it out.

But I DO again point out that those following your attempt at original intent on the 2nd Amendment being limited to muskets & black powder single shots, then the 1st should be limited to quills, ink & single page printing presses.

I am similarly wary of 'purists.' Which is why I find it odd that after 150 years of a broad interpretation of the Establishment Clause, every tiny little vestige of Christianity in the public domain is a threat to the First Amendment but outlawing guns that have been legal to own for decades isn't a serious threat to the Second Amendment.

One cannot scream about the slippery slope on religion and deny the same danger on guns.
