twhite, if mom-&-pop stores DON'T offer better service, then WHY should one reward them with business? If one wanted indifferent insolence, then one can easily find that at a myriad of stores.

Like you, I too attempt to buy local as much as possible. I shop @ Dury's Camera rather than on-line & spend $20-40 more for a lens.

twhite, *I* don't throw parties, I attend them. Furthermore, reading must not be your strong suit as I didn't mention repeated trips to the grocery store, I said multiple trips to OTHER stores to pick up what ISN'T sold @ Krogers.

Wasting gas & time for consumers for starters. Making multiple trips to the grocery store, another to the liquor store is ridiculous.

it would seem all the tree huggers would be all over this idea as it would cut down on the amount of trips a car driver has to make, thus lessening the amount of air pollution generated.

*I* drink wine about 3-4 times a year at the most.
