Elderly poverty, eh?

A logically silly propostion rooted in the notion that one can point to only one side of a government forced transfer payment and not look at the effect on the other side as if the wealth conferred on the transferees were somehow magically created out of thin air by the government and has no repercussions on anyone else.

As a demographic group, the elderly in aggregate are the richest in the country.

And plenty of younger people far poorer are funding ever increasing transfers to that group.

A logically silly proposition rooted in the notion that a remedy that fails to achieve a 100% result is not a remedy at all. It's like saying that a chemotherapy than puts half of the cancers at which it is directed into remission is not a form of cancer treatment.

Of course government alleviates poverty, if one regards the Social Security system as a government enterprise.

That was certainly true back in 1960 when people who watched the Nixon / Kennedy debate on tv thought Kennedy won while people who listened on radio thought Nixon won.

I think all Presidential debates should be done on radio or using sock puppets for tv.
