      <![CDATA[I usually try to be careful with my words about omnivores, but I really feel that if you can't bear to be a part of (or at least fully understand and acknowledge) the process from living creature to meal, then you don't deserve to eat the food. And I don't just mean the parts about the animals, but the people who have to work in the processing industry (see: Fast Food Nation).

      <![CDATA[There are these guys who sell local organic TN grown non-gmo soybean tempeh they make (they are somewhere from Cookeville-ish area) and they sell their tempeh at the Barefoot Farmer pick-up location on Mondays. They make some varieties like black-eye pea and soy, brown rice and soy, red rice and soy and maybe other varieties.

      <![CDATA[I do eat quite a bit of tempeh at home, but the only seitan I've liked so far is the shaved seitan sandwich at Sloco. I think I just don't know what to do with seitan on my own.

      <![CDATA[I think a better consensus is that more people are picky than not. It just happens to be that there are more omnivores than vegetarians, making it appear that the picky personality is primarily a omnivore characteristic.

      <![CDATA[I find many USA meat eaters picky... they only want meat that comes in nice little neat plastic wrapped packs that do not remind them of the critters it come from, nor have an meat flavor. I am referring to most of my meat eating friends and the rest of the meat eaters in my house.

      <![CDATA[I ask a lot of questions when dining out, but I rarely have to make substitutions or require something off the menu (however, I have always been pleased with the "Chef's Selection," particularly at Tayst). But because of my questions, I think people perceive me as picky.

      <![CDATA[Speaking from personal experience only here, my husband is pickier, hands-down, 24/7 than I was when a vegetarian for 5 years. He's a no vinegar, no mustard, no mayonnaise, no cream cheese, no sour cream, no CREAM[y things] kinda' guy where I was all "give me a salad, no bacon bits + load on the blue cheese dressing".<br>
<br>
Personally speaking, too, most of my veg friends are the types that hate to draw attention to their needs and were content to order the most basic things off the menu rather than include a list of exceptions with their order to the waiter.
