Maybe I'm on the wrong side of the tracks, but every restaurant chip I've ever sampled has been too soggy, too bland or too burnt. Lay's are good enough for me. Better yet, I'd also like to see Charles Chips again.
showing my age and geographic wanderlust, but a hundred years ago - ok, 30 - Red Robin was a West Coast-only burger joint, and they had homemade potato chips that were dusted in Parmesan and absolutely to die for. I don't know what corporate gearhead made the decision to pretend such things never existed, but it's up there with yanking Big Boy from Shoney's for marking when a given company jumped the shark.

seems like everywhere you go these days they're making their own chips.
