      <![CDATA[@Lesley, I wish I could remember who showed me how to pit an avocado because it works every time, unless the avocado is hopelessly underripe: Hold a avocado half in your hand. Gently whack the the blade of a heavy 8- to 10-inch chef knife into the pit, with just enough force so the knife goes slightly into the pit.

      <![CDATA[@hungryhippo - I love my cherry pitter - during cherry season, it's so much more satisfying for me to quickly pit a bowl full and just gobble them down than it is to eat around the pits or try to use a knife (i.e. make a huge mess and lose too much cherrry flesh)<br>

      <![CDATA[@blitzhacker, I've thought about getting rid of the blender in favor of the food processor, but one thing stops me: even my good Delonghi food processor just can't puree and neither could my Robot coupe (may it rest in peace after I burned out its transmission). The pesto turns out too chunky in a food processor -- hunks of garlic, hunks of walnut.
