<![CDATA[All I've seen from the posts in this forum concerning the "requirement" for bars to make 50% of their sales from food is speculation. If "sinep" and "Karl Warden" are correct I would have expected the Tennessean and especially the Nashville Scene (a zealous opponent of gun owners rights) to make an issue of it.

<![CDATA[The Tennessean reported that bars that make more of their income from booze than food pay a monthly fine for doing so, is that true and if so how much? Seems the restaurant industry would lobby to change something so ridiculous.

<![CDATA[You are correct. If you try to get a license, you will meet with an inspector who will inform you that your food sales had better exceed your alcohol sales.

<![CDATA[Umm... as I understand it you can't legally run a business in Tennessee who's primary business is serving booze. To get a liquor license at least 50% of your sales must come from food, so wouldn't requiring a business that sells mainly booze violate the business owner's rights against self incrimination and due process?
