Having recently moved here from Los Angeles, a raw food vegan and Nutritional Coach, I was THRILLED to find The Wild Cow. What most people don't know, is that there is more useable protein in a plant based diet...once meat is cooked, it is chemically altered (thus unrecognizable in the body) and takes up to 72 hours to digest while it is putrifying.

I must say that I found Wild Cow to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and the art work everywhere lent an especially wonderful ambience.
As to the critique, I'm reminded that people who denigrate themselves with ad hominem attacks, calling them 'opinion,' are hiding deep-seated resentments. And maybe feel a wee bit of guilt.

You may want to keep in mind that some people may have food allergies to meat-such as myself.

I've been to The Wild Cow on a couple occasions and, as a vegetarian and I didn't care for the food all too much. However, I respect the fact that they are on of Nashville's few vegan/ vegetarian restaurants, and I think they are offering a great alternative to the typical Nashville eateries - I can't tell you how nasty it is to find an errant piece of meat in your food, or wonder whether or not your veggie burger was grilled right next to a cow burger.
After reading the Scene's review, I felt pretty insulted as a vegetarian and I felt the Scene unfairly stuck it to The Wild Cow.

Try living in a 3rd world country where every meal is a daily challenge. Most days--there is not enough to eat.
Americans are spoiled---they can pick and choose what they want to eat.Other folks,in other countries can only pick and choose what is available based on what they can afford.

I know and love Carrington and I consider her a friend, but I definitely understand Melanie's disappointment with the tone of the article. Honestly, it pushed some buttons for me as well.

The Wild Cow's tempeh reuben kicks ass. And no I don't eat it because the protein patch whispers to me that if I just close my eyes, it's as if I'm actually eating an eight-inch stack of cured beef slathered in mayo.

I thought the review was fair minded although with a rather substantial dose (perhaps a bit much) of humor. I value local, sustainable food to a significant degree and I eat a vegetarian diet a fair proportion of the time.
