"Deadpool is try-hard."
Correction, for those who do not know the character from the comics, Deadpool is accurate. This is the Deadpool character that comic fans have always known and wanted instead of the abomination that was in Wolverine: Origins. Also, much like RDJ is Tony Stark, Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool. He absolutely nailed that character.
Like Iron Man, Deadpool is not a perfect movie. It's a fantastic origin story for Deadpool, much like Iron Man. However, both tend to suffer due to the weak main villain. Ajax does not impress, but it's not his movie, so it's a nitpick.
One element that it does handle rather well is the Colossus character. Despite his small appearances in previous X-Men films, Colossus is properly displayed here as how super heroes are supposed to act, which makes a good contrast against the Deadpool character. Deadpool is not a PG-13 shiny, super hero like Colossus, Iron Man, or Spiderman. He's a hard R, perverted merc with a mouth. "He's a bad guy who kills worse guys."
I'd like to judge Best Between Bread and Best Deep Fried.
I'm a subscriber to the 30 days box as well. I enjoyed this Flavor box for its variety. There were some great candies that I had never tried before, like the Sesame Crunch and the Satellite Wafers, but then there were some candies, like the Durian candy, were so bad that they haunt me afterwards. For me, the Durian candy coming out of the wrapper smelled like a butterscotch hard candy, but then I tried it. It was so bad, like sulfur in candy form. Even after I spat it out, the flavor stayed with me all day. Horrid candy. Avoid that one.
The Classic Candy box is safer, not as daring or a deadly as the Flavor box.
"Oreos just released a new flavor, Cookies & Cream. THAT'S JUST OREO-FLAVORED OREOS!"
This. I saw these at a Walgreens last week, and I had this same thought.
Nashville does not have cross routes to connect the current bus systems. Do you realize that people that live in Donelson, around the Lebanon Rd area, have to go all the way downtown to catch the bus to the airport? They are better off WALKING to the airport than using the bus. That's a big problem. Connecting routes that run 24/7 along at least the Briley pkwy and OHB loops would help with this problem.
My apologies on the groupings. On initial read, it seemed like only 5 people were judging.
However, I do wonder why some trucks placed with food that wasn't on their public menu for the event. For example, Hoss' cheesecake was not an option. They only posted up 2 burgers and fries for the event. Another example, Grilled Cheeserie placed in 4 seperate categories, yet only served 2 of those entries to the public.
I've heard from other food truck operators, that this option is allowed for the event. I just feel that that option goes against the whole nature of operating a food truck. Food should only be allowed for judging if the regular customer can buy it as well.
You do realize that having only 5 judges to judge 10 different categories from over 30 trucks might not work out properly. Having 5 judges for 2-3 categories would have worked better with some overlap. Plus, there were plenty of people willing to judge, just read the comments on the judge search page. Recruit more next time.
