Re: “We Paid $60 Million for That?!

I'm supposed to care where the company that created the ads is located? BTW, if you don't recognize some of that scenery, the scenery you say could be "anywhere," I suggest you get out of the office more. Sheeesh. What a non-story. It must be hard to get up every morning looking for something to feel outraged about.

Re: “As the city grapples with public transportation, Nashville neighborhoods want more attention for sidewalks

Not sure that denying the building of a walkway downtown helps to solve the greater problem. It's not a zero-sum issue. That's negative thinking. "We don't have what we want, so I'm not going to vote for downtown improvements!" Sheesh. The council rocks again. :(

Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: Loud Restaurants

This is also an issue for me. I like to hear my girlfriend tell me how awesome I am. Some of the hipper joints are louder than a high school basketball game. Places with large, open floor plans and high ceilings are designed for hubub, because people who aren't yet grown up feel insecure if they aren't surrounded by it. Noise is their nest. City House comes to mind. Pinewood Social is a great concept, but if your living room was that loud, you'd move. Nobody goes to Cabana anymore, but it has always been ridiculously loud. Rolf and Daughters. Even the Palm on a Friday or Saturday has a din that requires an effort of will to enjoy one's cottage fries. I have come to appreciate the places where, as my shrink says, "You can't get your hip card stamped": Mad Platter, Midtown Cafe. In the "modern" category The 404 is also excellent.
