Re: “Tennessee Lawmakers Defend Cockfighting

Fact is.... these PETA and animal activist people don't know what they are talking about. There is nothing cruel about the sport. Do a little research people. A person raising gamecocks has to put more effort into keeping the birds from fighting than anything. These birds are not trained to fight... it is their natural instinct. They are conditioned just like any other athlete. You literally can not make a chicken fight. If they don't want to fight they will run away. You say the knives are inhumane.... no... if anything they are more humane than allowing them to kill each other because of negligence. Which is what would happen if some of you ignorant people had ur way. These are not your every day run of the mill chickens and you can not raise them as such or you would end up with a yard or pen full of dead birds. You say strapping knives to these birds is cruel... no... what is cruel is not using the knives. These birds will fight until death whether there is anyone there to strap a knife or even watch much less bet on it. The knife shortens the time of a fight from many hours to a matter of minutes. These birds are taken care of better than a lot of people take care of their children. So ... before you let your ignorance show do your homework. Instead of wasting your time bashing something you haven't a clue about and worrying about what people do with their chickens why not make a better effort to protect the lives of children who are being treated cruelly being neglected and abused. There are child abusers, rapists, murderers, drug dealers, etc etc walking the streets targeting possibly your children and you are too busy worrying about what someone does with their chickens to notice. What fine upstanding citizens you are.
