Re: “Paul Collins and Peter Case's April 19 Show at The High Watt Canceled Due to Inner-Band Turmoil; The Nerve!

Gabriel - I just saw your 15 month old post and wanted to set the record straight that most of what you say here is incorrect and I don't know where you got your info. I was the bass player on that tour and roomed with Paul up until that fateful morning in Springfield, MO. I will not go into any deep details out of respect for Paul, Peter, and the rest of the people on that tour. Paul absolutely did not walk off of the tour. I was, unfortunately, in the hotel room when it all went down between the two. This tour was doomed from the first gig in Vancouver and I'm amazed it made it all the way to Springfield. It was just a case of clashing personalities and different ways of going about their business. Paul was verbally abusive toward the band and Peter did try to stop it. That is correct info. However, Paul was under a ton of stress on that tour and is normally a wonderful person to tour with. I have long since forgiven him but he struggles to this day forgiving me for what all went down on that tour.

Also, The songs were not weighted towards Paul. I would say it was about even and may actually have leaned a little toward Peter.

I just wanted to let you know a skeletal version of what really went down. I wish we could've have made it all of the way to the finish line because it was my absolute dream gig being a Nerve for a month but it wasn't meant to be. Such a shame too. It was pure magic on stage. Perhaps in another 30 years… ;-)
