Re: “Riding the Amp route with MTA regulars puts the need for the project — and its drawbacks — in perspective

The big take away for me reading this article is East Nashville needs a direct route to West End. Makes me wonder if the city is dangling the AMP in hopes to getting East Nashville excited on a $175 Million dollar "direct bus route." How about a direct bus route now with out a huge expense like the AMP at $25 million a mile?

My guess is users of MTA in East Nashville simple want a direct bus route not necessary the AMP.

Re: “Mayor Dean's latest move to save The Amp — a citizens' committee stocked with coalition builders — may be his smartest yet

Can I point out that the mayor didn't make this statement. "Committee get together once a month and help to build the best mass transit system for Nashville we can afford" the reality was he basically said "Hey figure out how we can design something do get this $75 Million and get some compromise. " Unfortunately only this corridor qualifies and you need dedicated lanes to get that cash from the Feds. Dedicated lanes will only hurt commuters along this route. When the mayor starts asking "What is the best design for mass transit while using the resources we have in operation (like the buses we have) that we can afford, he will have me on the bus to help.

If memory serves me Neal requested this documentation at the meeting. There seemed to be a "will get that to you" sort of response. Please understand a business owner on West End with a dedicated lane proposed in front of his/hers business is not represented on this committee. I've ask to be on this and was ignored. I emailed yesterday asking to have someone if not me that owns a retail/restaurant on West End along the proposed dedicated lane be invited into the organization. So far no response.

Re: “Three Things to Know From the First Amp Citizens Advisory Committee

Good question but a better question you should worry about is all the people on the committee who are doing it for financial reasons not for the public good.

Re: “Three Things to Know From the First Amp Citizens Advisory Committee

"The Committee’s work will be guided and limited by the federal and state regulations set forth on bus rapid transit systems, as well as the requirement that the Amp’s eligibility for federal funding must be maintained."

Let's just see if we can get the square peg into this round hole. Forget about the best mass transit system for the money. HOW CAN WE EAT THIS FREE GOVERNMENT CHEESE?

Re: “Has the Amp's Design Left the Station?

They don't need remove lanes of traffic on West End to reduce travel by car on West End. Technology is already changing our car habits. Traffic has been going down on West End since 1995 check out http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/traffichistory…
If don’t build a thing technology can solve most of the congestion challenges in the future. See what I learned riding the bus in Nashville http://roberthartline.com/2014/01/25/i-too…

Re: “A messy fight looms over The Amp, Metro’s proposed bus rapid transit system

It's just simple math I just don't understand. If the average ridership is going to be 2,000 people a day but you inconvenience the 44,000 people a day that travel that route it doesn't make sense. It would be cheaper to have the city pay Lyft to pick up 3 people and bring them to West End then pay the millions for a traffic hog.
