Re: “Excused from the jury for cause

I've been raped. Violently. At gun point. By two guys at the same time. While I was with my fiance, and no, he was not one of them.
At the time and in the place in which I was raped, rape was punishable by death, especially rape of a white woman by a black man, my situation. I had to talk my way out of being killed, because the punishment was no more severe for murder than for rape, and had they killed me and my fiance, there would have been no witnesses. It is for this reason if no other that we should think about how severely we punish even minor infractions that have the remotest possible sexual link (as in streaking). Lifetime of being on the sex offender registry? You might as well kill the victim as let them testify against you. How do YOU treat those on the registry? Do YOU want to be treated like that because some child walked into the restroom while you were at the urinal? Or because you accidentally bumped into some child in a pool? Or because you patted someone's backside?
We've got to stop giving people a reason to harm someone worse because we feel they need to be punished forever.
