Re: “Gary Odom faces a dogfight against John Ray Clemmons to keep his House District 55 seat

Agreed. I think I've gotten more mail from Odom in the last two months than in the 10 years prior.

And Rick Williams is his "key campaign staffer"? If I were on the fence, that pushed to to John Ray's camp.

Democrats really need some fresh blood and rising stars. This is the perfect opportunity to achieve that.

Re: “The Problem John Summers Represents for District 19

"old 9th Cong. district race when thinking about Harper v Puttbrese. There is one distinct difference; the well-entrenched incumbent that had repped the district was absent. So Mr. Puttbrese has a much tougher climb ahead of him without race being a factor."

I'm guessing Steve Cohen's nearly three decades of holding elective office in Shelby County might be a pretty distinct difference, too.

Re: “The Problem John Summers Represents for District 19

So, there's lots of bullshit about hats, health, and other racist/misogynistic stuff impacting the D19 race. John Summers says the opposite of all that, but let's throw him in because he's always fun to beat up on.

Interview her, please! Shouldn't we have a right to know if she's all there or not?

Uhm, yeah Bubbadog/Captain Obvious, that's why I included his name, to show I was talking about a different writer- *both* Scene writers need better copy editors. And to be totally transparent, I named Liz Garrigan because she was a former editor who never would have let such sloppy writing past her desk.

"Vane"? I really hate that I miss Liz Garrigan. And Hale needs to learn the difference between "who's" and "whose" while we're at it.

How about some substance for the voters? It reads like another Pith rant about someone whose ego needs to be put in check.

Re: “Pinkston To Suggest Dumping Board Policy That Got Him In Trouble

Bill Wise preceded Garcia.

I think Pinkston can be a little tacky, and generally like Register, but a policy that says he can't criticize the director is foolish and dangerous for an elected public body. The school board has had periods where uncomfortable things needed to be said and Weren't. It may be a little painful, but good for public dialogue.

Go Pinkston!
