well they said they werent waiting for me and would be there til dinner so....i think i was good plus there were two of them stnading there doing nothing. i try to keep it in mind if they are trying to cash out etc.
oh as for the closing time. if the place is closing for lunch or if the person is changing shift then i will collect my dishes and stack them and pay out or pay out if im not done eating. as long as i only have a couple of dishes and a glass then i usually will savor my meal for a while unless i feel that the staff needs to leave or the place is literally closing. i eat late lunches and i find that the staff dont seem to really mind me sitting there as long as im not asking for stuff or making a mess or ordering new stuff. for example, if i go to batterd and fried seafood for a late lunch, i sit at the bar and take my time. i dont make a mess or ask for a lot of extras and they tend to tidy up and ready themselves for the dinner hour without much trouble of me sitting there i think.
if a place is for sure closing for lunch or at night then i do pay out and stack my dishes as best as i can. i dont want them to wait for me but often times there is a buffer period between when you can tell hey are closing and when you really need to let them clean and vacuum.
i dont tend to eat at places where people are waiting for tables because i like to sit for a while. if i were somewhere and there was a waiting list i would not sit there and take up a table. i also would not expect a server to continue to wait on me at a table if im sitting alone and they are busy. thats why i often try to sit at the bar. the bartender gets a tip and they have to be there anyway so...im not taking up a table or anything. if the bar is busy and im not drinking i will get up and let someone else sit down but that is not typically the case with a late lunch.
i have a question related to this.
this week i ate a late lunch at a chain place. i got a lunch combo and a glass of wine. the place does not close between lunch and dinner. it was about 1:30 so it was not busy at all. i was alone so i sat at the almost empty bar. i enjoyed a leisurely lunch and then savored my bread and nibbled on the remainder of the lunch and wine. the wait staff kept offering to get me something or clear my dishes to which i said "im just nibbling". the server said she was there til after dinner so she wasnt leaving and to take my time. they were really nice and all but i wondered if i was doing something rude or something as they kept checking on me as if i wasnt supposed to sit there. is it rude to linger over lunch if the server is not leaving and its not busy? anyone?
i dont think stuffing and dressing are the same at all. dressing is made of very fine cornbread and bread and and its moister with a finer texture. stuffing is made more of bread with much less cornbread and it has more texture - like the stuff in a box.
the dressing we make tastes nothing like the boxed stuff. i like both but they are nothing alike. maybe thats just the way we make it. however, if you go to most good meat and three - the dressing is nothing like the boxed stuff and more like what we have - with a moist finer texture.
yes it was..im just thin in the area of political correctness these days sorry.
oh my how did i not know about this place!
