Its the only music related thing THERE. Doubt seriously its true.
I call Bullshit.
Perhaps I am taking issue with the writer's painting this almost as if it were fact despite his inability to get straight answers from the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau when he asked them if if the quality or quantity of Nashville's adult entertainment ever comes up in negotiations." It does come up. Many times they refer them to agents who handle this sort of thing. This story was so irritating to read because first of all you cannot NOT answer that question if a client asks. It would be insulting number 1 and make the potential client feel insulted. NCC would lose the customer, and how is that helping tourism? I don't visit these places and quite frankly I would be happy if they were all shut down. But this article is not honest. The convention entertainment portion of this business has knowledge of the fact that Corporations set money aside for this sort of thing. Strip clubs are legal operating businesses, they have rights. They pay taxes just like any other business and have to apply for permits and proper zoning so for NCC to portray themselves as holier than though for an article in the Nashville Scene is to insult the intelligent. I guess I feel insulted. There would be a lot of lawsuits if Spyridon refused to answer questions about strip clubs or refer them to an agent that handles that. I believe he was unprepared to answer the question and lied because my goodness, what else could he do? I just don't see how the writer expected to get anything but a "no" answer.
I think the writer did a decent job and I am merely trying to present argument from only one other side which would be that of the "non-writer/former stripper's" side. I thought surely it would provoke further comment or debate from other sides like strip club owners or convention attendees. I humbly apologize if it rubbed raw against the writer or other reader's and do still stand firmly on my replies. :o)
