Abby-great read. I am a first generation Monkees fan and I was in the audience at the Franklin show as well. Like every other 10-yr-old girl when the Monkees premiered in 1966, I was completely taken with cute lil' Davy. Fast forward to 1986 when MTV aired the Monkees Marathon to celebrate their 20th anniversary, and my adult eyes were completely drawn to Michael. I went to their reunion show that summer and, like you, was disappointed that Mike was not with the band. Over the years I have followed all their careers and Michael's solo work shines--does it get any better than "Joanne" with the First National Band? And I can't watch "Elephant Parts" without falling out of my chair either. I am thankful Michael chose Franklin to debut he solo tour and I remain hopeful that Mike, Micky and Peter will continue the Monkees reunion tour with a date in the South next fall.
