Re: “Live Free Or Die! Bikers Finally Win One in Fight to Doff Helmets

Because seat belts don't carry a liability waiver that says 'not effective over 13.7 m.p.h.'

Because its easier to report accident numbers than it is to actually do the work and look at numbers compared to the licensed population (which has grown even faster).

Because it's easier to repeat pablum than look at what happens when you compare fatalities in mandatory helmet states vs. fatalities in helmet choice states if you don't pick a certain starting year for your comparison.

Because it's easier to regurgitate than to do the work to investigate and look at public-dole statistics for traumatic brain injuries for drivers vs. public dole statistics for traumatic brain injuries for motorcyclists and conclude that drivers should be regulated to wear helmets if you really want to save taxpayer dollars.

Because it would really take investigative reporting to get off your derrière and research spinal cord injuries among helmeted riders in accidents vs spinal cord injuries among non-helmeted riders. It's not the non-riding public that should be making the choice between brain vs spinal cord.

Can we please get an article by a real reporter?
