I thought he was chairman of the committee. Doesn't sound like he did a very good job if he couldn't keep his own committee and agenda in order. His excuse sounds like just that... An excuse. Yet another phony politician claiming he's sticking up for conservative values and voting for yet more government intervention. Truly disturbing that our elected "leaders" don't trust us to vote on such a seemingly simple issue. Add in the fact that TN has no method by which popular referendum can be introduced by its citizens, you have a situation where stagnant politics and cronyism are the standard.
