Re: “Will Nashville Drive the Less Fortunate from Downtown?”
I have a pastor friend that has a ministry for feeding the homeless through donations from Trader Joe's. The provide enough meals every month to feed 4000. He is the center of this and passes out the food to other ministries as well. A lot of the homeless have stated that the rescue mission is difficult to deal with, from what he has told me. Here's another thought. Every time there is some sort of convention or sporting event in town, there is a "round up" to bring the homeless into the city jail until it's over. The city really doesn't want it to look like Nashville has a homeless problem. By the way, the face of the homeless has changed. There are families with children and newborns out there. Not by choice. By circumstance.
