"Honestly, Tennessee kids aren't fat because they eat like shit at holidays. They're fat because they're poor and they eat like shit when they eat at all."
Oh please. I'm sure that sitting in front of the tv or computer for hours on end playing video games instead of going outside and doing something sorta athletic plays every bit as big a role as what they eat. Parents who would rather go to McDs instead of cooking something at home plays a major role as well.
So the people who get killed in the bombings and others who have their homes destroyed can relax because it was only a "limited strike" instead of a war...
Did Pith ever do an article on this guy while he was still alive?
OK, mattintn if you're so set on closing the gun show loophole, what % of guns are bought at gunshows? Then if 29-40% of guns sold at gunshows are bought without a background check what % of guns are bought by criminals?
Gun-control nutjobs don't really know what the facts are.
And surely there must have been a tremendous rise in the number of murders in that time committed with firearms. I mean what with more guns being carried in more and more places there must be "blood in the streets" , "OK Corrals", and "shoot-outs over parking spaces" everywhere. Isn't that what a certain Pith contributor would have us believe?
# of murders via firearm 2005 301
# of murders via firearm 2011 (last year full data is available) 244
What? How can this be? I mean "more guns equals more crime" doesn't it? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?
Honestly what is your big deal about knives? The TSA is discussing allowing certain knives to be brought on airplanes again. What's the problem with someone in TN having a 4-1/2" bladed knife in their pocket?
While you were looking over Jeffrey Roth's study, did you happen to notice the top of the page and preceding page of the one you quoted? Where he mentioned studies by Kleck and another by Cook, who put the number of guns used in self defense yearly at between 78,000 to 700,000. He appears to believe that Cook underquotes the figure and Kleck overstates it.
