Re: “Even After Newtown, Tennessee Senate Votes to Expand Gun Rights Again

The tone of objection in your article seems odd particularly in such a conservative state. Here in dark blue wide left Oregon the Tennessee debate baffles. We take our 2nd Amendment rights and responsibilities seriously in Oregon (see Blue Steel Democrats). Our legislature via the state constitution places few restrictions on legal carry. Not only can I drive onto any public property with a handgun, I can carry it into any state building, school, etc. My media company employer also allows me to conceal carry at work and is allowing a class for employees who choose to get the permit in premises. Not all employer choose the same but most do.

My point is this, despite the fog, rhetoric and blamethrowing so common today by a collection of anti-gun media and politicians, Oregon's progressive political establishment rightfully recognizes that law abiding citizens who enjoy the full expression of their individual right under the Second Amendment are not the problem. More restrictive laws won't stop the criminals.

Enjoying all of the Bill of Rights in Oregon
