Re: “Would Japan's School Lunch Program Work in the U.S.?

CarrieAnn, and anyone else who is concerned with this topic... I own a Healthy Vending company. We are desperately trying to get the attention of Metro's Public Schools, with some to little success. Our vending programs provide kids with healthier alternatives to the traditional "junk" that is typically available in vending machines or a la carte cafeteria menus. Our snacks/beverages, however, are never meant to replace lunches. They are meant to compliment them or to serve as an extra boost throughout the school day or afterwards. They are natural snacks (Pirates Booty, PopChips, Fruit Crisps, Veggie Stix, Organic Milks, etc) with no artificial colors, preservatives, or flavors...some are fresh fruits/veggies or pressed juices....all packaged in a fun way and taste amazing!!! I have 5 young children, and I completely understand all the issues and challenges surrounding feeding kids. Trust me...I know its a tricky task. I ask you to approach your school and tell them how you feel. Nothing more powerful than a concerned and inspired mom!!! Schools are scared to change. IF they they know they have the support of the community, it's a little less intimidating!! If you get a chance...check out our Facebook page!!!
