No. Genetic engineering of crops isn't that different from crossbreeding. It's just another method of transferring useful traits to other crops. Only just one or two genes at a time. And it can be used to make crops that are drought tolerant or disease resistant, without a lot of the chemical inputs that conventional crops need.
