I believe Donald Glover once pointed out that rappers can be just as funny as comedians.
For me, every outlandish thing Kanye does is super entertaining. Why take him so seriously when he's talking about the cinematography of the Kardashians TV show? Or boycotting Louis Vuitton for a month? It's cartoonish, and it's fun.
I think people get jacked up when they see those antics alongside his often critically and commercially successful music. We like to see the good guys and gals win in our entertainment. When the loud asshole wins instead of a hero, it clashes with a certain worldview. That's the spot Kanye West gets under so many people's skin.
I can't recommend Zombie Paintball Hayride. $20 and a trip to the middle of nowhere isn't worth the long wait in line and a ~10 minute hayride. But if you do end up going, sit on the left side of the wagon. The right side mostly consists of zombies off in some brush that you can't really see. No zombies got close to us, which was disappointing. Everyone was kind of underwhelmed and bummed out after we left.
On Thursday, Oct 18, there's a Young Giant/Maimed & Tamed showcase with Nashville bands. Here's the lineup:
1:10PM-1:35PM: Daniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes*
1:45PM-2:10PM: The Hill and Wood
2:20PM-2:50PM: The Floorwalkers
3:40PM-4:10PM: Vinyl Thief*
4:20PM-4:50PM: Wild Cub*
5:00-5:45PM: The Black Cadillacs
Maybe everyone who read this is busy fixing their music careers and following the instructions on this list.
But seriously, good article. Especially 3 and 6.
