Re: “Silo: This Week's Dining Review

Went for an impromptu brunch last weekend and all 4 of us enjoyed our meals. The winner at the table was the shrimp and grits, but the pastry basket [cinnamon rolls!], chicken and waffles and hard boiled eggs du jour [pimento cheese!] were also repeat-worthy.

Small problems of some flies hanging around our table as we were seated right by the front door and a somewhat inattentive waiter [empty water glasses though he delivered new topped up [bourbon] bottles of water for the table] won't keep us from going back, and back, and back...

Re: “Pickin' Up Pawpaws

I'm so intrigued by these paw-paws! Hoping I can get my hands on some this season. I'm due to make some persimmon whoopie pies for a wedding next month - fingers crossed I can find them in time and in the right quantity! eep!

Re: “Produce Anxiety: Overwhelmed by your CSA?

Love the Fresh Harvest recs, y'all! I've been splitting a flower CSA from Turnbull Creek [new! gorgeous TN wildflowers] with our neighbor and didn't realize they had this veggie set-up. We currently do a CSA with Avalon Acres [1/2 veggie/fruit + meat + eggs] but we might explore Fresh Harvest next. Would love the convenience of picking and choosing because..well..I still hate beets. :)

Re: “Lockeland Table on Track for Early August Opening

So happy to have another option in the neighborhood, and selfishly happy it's just around the corner from where we live. Looking forward to some good eats, and soon!

Re: “The Pinterest Dinner Party: It's a Thing

Hah..I was just going through some of my pins and if I happened to host a Pinterest Party you'd have a lot of tomato soup, corn casserole, creamed spinach and cake. Lots of cake.

I have to say, though, that I'm an obsessive blog reader and so usually once a day as I go through my reader, I pin any and all recipes that interest me, crafts I may want to do, purty pictures, etc.

Re: “Are Meat Eaters Pickier Than Vegetarians?

Speaking from personal experience only here, my husband is pickier, hands-down, 24/7 than I was when a vegetarian for 5 years. He's a no vinegar, no mustard, no mayonnaise, no cream cheese, no sour cream, no CREAM[y things] kinda' guy where I was all "give me a salad, no bacon bits + load on the blue cheese dressing".

Personally speaking, too, most of my veg friends are the types that hate to draw attention to their needs and were content to order the most basic things off the menu rather than include a list of exceptions with their order to the waiter.
