I knit, I crochet, I spin, I dye and I want to learn to weave. I can understand defending the trademark however grand and sweeping it may be on a word that has existed before the savages to the North of Greece were civilized or the flat earth yielded the Americas. I work for lawyers and I've never seen a cease and desist letter that was researched and personalized in such a way as to intentionally insult a group of people. The lack of professionalism in that letter is what upset me. The attorneys I work for read material that is leaving their offices with their names on it to make sure it is clear, concise, and professional. Ravelry isn't just knitters and crocheters. Ravelry is a community for FIBER ARTISTS WORLDWIDE. Ravelry isn't just a community of little old women. It's comprised of internet and social media savvy men and women from all walks of life from triathletes who train just as hard as Olympians to paraplegics who use these above mentioned crafts as a way to enjoy life and meet and interact with other people instead of being shut in. Ravelry is a community of individuals around the world who donate their time, skills, and money with those crafts to charities all over this planet for those in need. I myself am a U.S. Veteran and the Blue Jacket Manual taught me a lot of things about how I should carry myself - as an individual and as a member of the United States Military representing my country in all aspects of my life here and abroad. Teachings that I continue to use to this day. I myself am a North Carolinian and my Grandmothers and parents taught me to give people a measure of respect until they show you different. The U. S. O. C has shown me different. I will continue to knit, crochet, spin, and dye and I will support charities that appreciate my efforts, time, money, and potential.
