@Gavin -- how long have you lived in Nashville, or do you even live here? It's a FREE event, and how can you say that Donna the Buffalo, Shooter Jennings, Royal Southern Brotherhood, McCrary Sisters, Derek St. Holmes Band, Edwin McCain and Guthrie Trapp are not real talent???
@TMretard (appropriate name, BTW)... ever heard the term, "you gotta spend money to make money?" The amount of business (space rental, hotels, restaurants, music venues) that this will generate will more than make up for it. We've lost out on many conventions (and lost NAMM for one year, but they came back ONLY because we were starting work on this) because our old convention center was too small for some events.
Now we will get larger versions of the older conventions, along with some of the conventions we missed out on in years past. It will be good for our city's bottom line...
Just read this in the print edition, and couldn't help but to wonder... does the SCENE have something against Dino's in East Nashville? A few years back when they had the best Burger in Nashville article, there was nary a mention of Dino's killer burgers. Not too long after that article (and much before the timeline reflected in this article), Dinos was acquired by a frequent patron, Rick Wildeboor. WHile a "mere patron," he had been special-ordering what he called a "Yankee Burger" which was added to the menu upon his acquisition of the business. It was their basic (basically great!) burger, with a fried egg (Sunny Side Up) on top of the patty. Before eating, you break the yolk and let it run over the meat and bread, top it with the top bun and enjoy! This was at least five years ago -- where was the SCENE then (and again, why weren't their "regular" burgers even considered in that earlier rundown on Nashville Burgers?)??
