Re: “After Gay Teen's Suicide, Christian Right Backs 'License to Bully'

@gast, don't take my words and say that I said that Jesus condoned ANY of the sin he came in contact with! And I am certainly NOT trying to turn the Bible to my advantage! My post was although wordy simple!! EVERY Christian should be concerned more on his/her relationship with Jesus rather than try to beat the hell (sin) out of those who do not believe with their Bibles! I know of not a single person who has changed their beliefs because someone was constantly browbeating them with a Bible, however I know of a lot who have seen Jesus through the Christian that changed them!!

Re: “After Gay Teen's Suicide, Christian Right Backs 'License to Bully'

I don't know the story of this poor kid very well but followed a link to get to the small story above.
I am no authority on "religion" but I do know Jesus, and I love HIM deeply!! My personal understanding of what it is to be a Christian, is to strive and be like HIM, and to have a personal relationship with HIM! Ok, so how is that done? Well best I figure, to do either of those 2 things, I need to know HIM...how do I do that? Spend time in HIS word, meditate on what he is saying/doing, and speak with HIM, then LISTEN to what HE is telling me!! Now, when I spend time in HIS word, there are a few things I see!

1.) Christ was a loving man! He loved EVERYONE, period!! He loved and listened to the one's our society would condemn!! He did NOT judge them, rather he loved them!! He told the woman caught in adultery to go and sin no more. (her peers were getting ready to stone her to death!)

2.) All through the New Testament, the ONLY people I can see Christ at odds with are the Zealous "religious" idiots of the time, the religious leaders...pharasees, sadusees, etc...
that tells me how HE himself felt about "religion" and the rules that the "religious" set up! HE didn't care for any of that!!!

3.) Christ told those that were getting ready to stone the woman to death, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". Not ONE single amoungst them could throw a rock!! I feel that our "religious" leaders have lost sight of that!! What a shame!!!

Is being gay a sin??? For ME, what I have read and understand about HIS will for MY life, yes...it is. But that is speaking ONLY for ME!!! I have many, many gay friends that I love DEEPLY!! Do I judge them? NO!! Being a judge is NOT up to me...if Jesus didn't do it, neither will I!!! Do I think they are going to hell or living in sin? Again, I could never make that assumption for it is NOT for me to make!! Several of my friends are in a relationship with Christ so if HE has a problem with them or whom they love, I trust that he will convict them on it just as HE does me when I am not being like him!!

Call me religious if ya want! I am not, I just love Jesus!! And I refuse to act like the relgious idiots of the world who push others away from him!! My heart aches for this poor kid and his family! May they find peace in the days to come! As for everyone else...don't make the mistake of hating GOD because of the idiots that walk this planet!! Get to know HIM for yourself, then and only then can you decide what to think of him!!

<3 Peace!
