Let me get this straight, deficits didn't matter when we had to fight foreign wars, they didn't matter when we gave a huge tax cut to the rich, and extended that tax cut ofr rich last year, and deficits didn't matter when we spent hugely on over-priced pills for seniors through Medicare Part D. All this, voted in when Republicans were in control of both Presidency and Congress, all this could be done without spending cuts, without care of deficits these policies created, but now, in the worst recession in 80 years, now unemployment insurance extensions and a FICA tax break, can't be done unless its paid for?!?!?! Not only that, but we cant pay for it via taxing rich, it must be paid for by cutting spending that helps ordinary people (federal jobs etc..)?!?! When they said tax on rich would hurt small businesses (not true) Repubs have now even rejected proposal by Senator Collins that exempts tax on small business owners. Time for Congress to start worrying about the 99 percent, they may get all their money from the 1 precent, but we still vote.
