When our founding fathers took to the public square to debate the issues and exercise their right to free speech, they certainly did not pay $65 per day for a permit + $800 for private security + $1 million of mandatory liability insurance coverage. It seems free speech is no longer free in the Volunteer State.

Governor Haslam and the State of Tennessee have not handled this well. Whether you agree with the protest Occupy Nashville or not, we have all lost a bit more liberty due to the restrictions imposed on our fellow citizens this day.

This is a country where laws are supposed to apply to all of us equally. Politicians have the State Highway Patrol to enforce their wishes -- voters only have the ballot box to enforce theirs.
