Oh. Thank God that Lamar Alexander wasn't chosen.
Best thing we, of the TEA Party, can hope for is sequestration. Because Reid and Pelosi packed that Supercommittee with the 6 most hard-core, far-Left 'Super Statists' they had in their stable: Baucus, Kerry, Patty Murray, Van Hollen, Xavier Becerra, and Clyburn. The National Taxpayer's Union (NTU) ratings for each of these six LeftLibProgg clowns is lower (worse) than Ted Kennedy's lifetime rating.
They will mob-vote in unison, then attempt to pressure one single Republican to give them the 7 votes they need so's Reid can rush their plan through the Senate. It will assuredly be a bad plan for America and for the taxpayers.
So, let's keep pressure on those 6 Republicans in the hope that they can stall for sequestration. I'll take whatever mandatory budget cuts comes from that, $1.2 T, willingly enough.
These 6 Republicans must expect a flogging from the Obama-controlled media, and will face intense public pressure to fold. Likely one of them will, causing that Senator to assuredly lose his seat. Possibly it'll be Jon Kyl, since he's retiring anyway.
Heckuva way to leave your mark, Jon. Just.Say.No.
Should've had a fedora.
No fedora? Can't be a 'real' journalist.
(Given his left-wing ideology, I'd conclude he's a Journ-Ø-Lister!)
Here's a better TEA Party argument...
The entire establishment political class is corrupt. And it has declared open war against those Americans still left who believe in fiscal responsibility and a constitutional check on federal powers. Both the establishment Republicans and the Democrats (and their ancillary and parasitic attendants in the media and the inside-the-beltway political machinery) have shown themselves immediately willing to scapegoat the one anti-big government faction willing to insist on making the difficult choices necessary to save the country from the bloated, cynical, complacent pig class who presumes to run it in our name — though never in the way we wish. And that’s because party doesn’t really matter any longer, as I’ve been saying for years now.
What we are witnessing is the ruling class vs. the governed — a fight we among the governed are only really taking up after the ruling class has already gobbled up the allegiance of a huge swath of its quarry by turning them into either clients or dependents (something that would likely never happen with, say, a flat or fair tax, incidentally, which is one of the reasons no serious push for one ever comes out of DC).
The TEA Party is an impediment, one that the professional political class needs to see weakened, if not entirely marginalized. And that’s because the TEA Party is threatening the mechanism of cheap grace, power, and perks these politicians live on.
But what they don’t seem to understand about the TEA Party is that it isn’t an actual party. Instead, it is a mindset, a counter-revolutionary impulse to the counter-revolutionary coup of Big Centralized Government against the founding and framing of this country.
These clowns haven't a clue as to what they want to get out of these 'protests'. There are three doors they can choose from:
Door #1: This door is offered by the far-Left; it is the Road to Serfdom, eventually to Communism. This is the path that the modern Democratic Party is following. These clueless and intellectually vapid #OWS supporters are drifting to here; BHO and his OFA are herding them like the sheeple that they are.
Door #2: Anarchy (the 'Road Warrior' option). The anarchists would like nothing better than to tear down the system, and live Ethiopian.
Door #3: The 'Fix or Rebuild our Republic' option (AKA #TEAParty). The best choice, but it might take a complete RESET, because the Left has so undermined and damaged the original Constitution with their encroaching 'Progressivism" that it may be necessary to rebuild from scratch after they who are of the Socialist bent have been soundly defeated.
I can see the TEA Party joining the Occupy folks, but never if the #Occupy movent enlists Unions, and the OFA - Obama far-Left manage to heist it to their favored direction; a direction that doesn't include our original founder's basic tenets, and guarantees the freedoms that we've enjoyed.
If you #OWS sorts choose to involve those elements, as it seems some of you have, then Katy bar that first door, and we'll meet in the middle.
Lots of hate on this here backwater site for Marsh Blackburn, I see. She's not subscribing to the LeftLibProgg narratives is why.
But, that's a good thing, AFAIC.
Here's the linky...
