At least Will Pinkston is a YES on a charter school somewhere and the Chamber has "hope" charter operators will step up. But again, the BOE is making it nearly impossible for families to make plans for their children's education, buying a home and settling into a neighborhood. All three are essential elements for a stable and taxpaying base upon which to fund, oh say...a pedestrian bridge, a ball park, the AMP.
Riiigghttt. An anonymous "patriot in Tennessee" is the source. Was he wearing a plaid! shirt?
For this conservative voter, Huckabee's opinion goes in the negative column for Lamar!
Jim, Drew was hired to oversee the conservative side of the opinion page. Drew's opinions, his forthrightness, his lack of dignity were features, not flaws in his being hired. Now, for reasons only known to the local fishwrap, they've decided Drew has crossed an undefined line. Show me the SOP where it says he couldn't change this headline and I'll rethink my support. The phrase, while indelicate, is certainly a part of the fabric of of Tennessee's music heritage and as such was a natural fit for a RED state opinion page. As Aunt B makes absolutely clear "he is not our king. People who disagree with him should not be under any obligation to show him deference based on his position." If Mr. Obama's feelings are too delicate to handle such, he's in the wrong business. Lacking a backbone that would enable him to speak truth to power, I suspect the Times Free Press editor is also in the wrong business.
Jim, Drew denies that there was a policy in force regarding headline changes. In fact he states that changes were done regularly AND that editors routinely have one final look at the page afterward and, apparently, they didn't see a problem with the headline. @Drews_Views is his twitter account. Check there for current info. Further, "no discernible reason for the scorn"? Seriously? IRS, NSA, Ft Hood, Benghazi, Fast & Furious...
The Democratss are "no-shows" but the Republicans are "cowardly"? Republicans at least showed up and are on the record as not being supportive. That takes more courage than hiding.
Clearly Perry hasn't ever had a person to person, face to face conversation with Bobbie or he would never be able to say that. She's a gracious lady and I've never, in 12 years of knowing her and being around her in different situations, seen her treat anyone with disrespect of any kind.
