Re: “In Federal Court, Plaintiffs Move to Suspend Nashville Immigration Program

Only an insane leftist lawyer would pull such a stunt. 287.g is completely legal and in compliance with Federal Immigration law. It is a highly popular program and cities and communities are standing in line for it. The Soetoro-Obama Admin wants to end it because it works! It allows local police to be immigration agents and trains them.

Re: “United States Wants No Part of 287(g) Challenge

Donna, you're terrific! You put the pro-lawbreaker liberal fools in their places.

While some red states are backing away from 1070 legislation due to the influence of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and farming interests (FL and KY most notably), some are moving forward with it (like MS, NE and VA). GA has become "a battleground" for immigration legislation as the Farm Bureau and big businesses are trying to stop them from becoming law. Governor Deal is backing off his important campaign promise to sign a 1070 bill if elected. I realize the discussion here is over 287.g which was part of the 1996 IIRIRA Federal law, not 1070, but 1070 is "the game changer" that leftists like those here are desperately trying to keep from becoming state law. The reason? As The Dude Abides says, they want those illegal alien votes either as illegally cast votes for Democrats or as Democrat votes after the next Amnesty is passed. Fortunately, the mood of the country has shifted to opposing lawbreakers feeding off the taxpayers thanks in no small part to the economy and extremely high rate of American worker unemployment. Amnesty has no chance of passing now in either house of Congress.

What 1070 does--the parts that were left alone by Clintonite Federal Judge Bolton, that is--is truly remarkable. First and most importantly, it gets rid of Sanctuary policies in Arizona that have made that state's cities and communities havens for illegal alien gangbangers and millions of unlawful residents. Second, it makes E-verify mandatory for ALL businesses in Arizona AND forces employers to check all current employees hired since December 30, 2007 as well as all new and prospective employees. Third, it makes illegal all "day labor sites" if they impede the flow of traffic with impounding of vehicles used by lawbreaking employers of so-called "day laborers" and hits them with fines and jail time.

287.g is an important tool in fighting the Invasion by Mexico but 1070 is where our attention should be focused. Why? Because states legislatures and Governors' mansions are where the action is. With the U.S. Senate and The White House in Democrat hands, little of anything will be passed into law that stops the Invasion or gets tough on the illegals already here. Also, DHS is refusing to expand 287.g even as states and communities are crying for it. 1070 however is a state effort and has already improved one state (although the Invasion still comes in thru it).

Pro-illegal alien folks are on the defensive for the first time. Up till now, the cries of "racism" and "xenophobia" scared many Americans into non-action. Fortunately, those Saul Alinsky tactics don't work anymore. America is fast becoming a law and order nation but it's a grass roots and state-level movement. Until the Republicans get control of the Senate and The White House, it will continue that way.
