Did he massacre at Fort Pillow? Certainly did not. He offered them the chance of surrender. The men of the fort refused. So, killed them. If you read military battle correspondence surrounding the event (from both parties- North and South), it is apparent that the popular tale of how events transpired is necessarily inacurrate.
