Re: “Garth Brooks Flood Benefit at Bridgestone Arena, 12/16/10 (Late Show)”
I still don't get it... the way the "crowd reacted to it"...? Garth's show was in a huge ARENA that hosts hockey and basketball games... Elvis' comeback in 68 was shot in a small soundstage in Burbank for a tv special. There IS NO comparison.
I don't want to beat a dead horse... but it's just hilarious to me that a blog as cool as this one first of all would ever go to a Garth Brooks show and like it... and then make a comparison to Elvis' 68 comeback special. There is no comparison. Elvis having done tons of horrid movies decided to do a tv special... he lost weight, got into shape, looked and sounded like a God. Garth has gotten fatter and fatter and did nothing to prepare for these concerts other than a few rehearsals.
I'm stoked that he raised so much money for this community, but I just can't stop focusing on how stupid any comparison to an Elvis 68 comeback special is. If a comparison had to be made at all you would compare it to possibly Elvis' Hawaii special in which he too played in front of a huge crowd and raised money for a cancer fund. But, even then... Elvis is Elvis and Garth looks like a fat washed up bull rider who has an equally fat talentless wife.
