Re: “Tennessee Christian Right Finds New Way to Mess With Gay People

This weekend the Tennessee Equality Project and the HRC will be hosting the 2013 Equality Dinner in Nashville.

The "Presenting Sponsor" for the HRC Nashville Equality Dinner is Bridgestone.

According to the financial reports filed with the State of TN, in 2012 Bridgestone PAC gave $45,000 to Republican candidates and PACs, and $11,500 to Democratic candidates and PACs.

Four of the "Corporate Sponsors" for this event are Waller Lansden, Cracker Barrel, Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, and Bass Berry Sims. All of these company's filed financial statements for their PACs with the State of TN.

In January 2013, Waller Lansden PAC contributed $1000 to Stacey Campfield's campaign.

In November and December 2012, Cracker Barrel PAC contributed $1000 to Mitch McConnell's campaign, and $1000 to the Heather Wilson for Senate Campaign. Heather Wilson has a zero rating from the HRC because of her anti-gay voting record.

In 2012 Bass Berry Sims contributed $42,250 to Republican candidates in TN, and $4500 to Democratic candidates.

In 2012 Bradley Arant Boult Cummings contributed $12,500 to Republican candidates, and $3750 to Democratic candidates.

In my opinion the Nashville HRC Equality Dinner should not have sponsors that actively finance opponents of LGBT rights.
