Don't all government bodies and agencies exist to promote the welfare of the common public and "consumers"? Whether they actually do or not is another matter. Who is currently overseeing the financial/lending sector, the FDIC and state authorities? There's where your focus should be.

As far as banks go, there are good ones and bad ones. If a bank or lender isn't breaking the law, but somehow makes a profit, who cares? If you don't like it, create new legislation with a "Democratic controlled" house and senate. Don't create another goverment entity that does nothing but consume additional cash from the taxpayers. Regardless of her approval or appointment, nothing will change. Don't fall for it.

It's smoke and mirrors, people.
