Re: “Preserving Printers Alley

Are there extremists on the right? Yes.

Are there extremists on the left? Yes.

You should remember that American History did not start with the election of Ronald Reagan. The contemporary right has nothing on the anti-war left when it comes to intolerance but the contemporary left has never renounced the terrorist tactics or hateful rhetoric of that movement.

Also you might consider apologizing for some of your comments to others. That is, if you want to actually unify people.

Re: “Preserving Printers Alley

I was unduly snappish and I apologize.

My {poorly made} point was that you were correct that some degree of compromise is necessary for the city and for the state and the nation.

And here I was thinking that you meant what you said. I should have learned by now that you don't care about solutions. Just hot air.

Can I quote you when it comes to various state and federal issues?

Re: “The Pierce vs Sharpe School Board Forum: Three Takaways

"If you're going to set policy for the public schools in your state or district, then you need to have some skin in the game."

"It does help, in terms of moral authority, not to have opted out of the public schools if you want to be on the board that makes decisions about public schools."

"What's just as important to me is that having kids in the traditional public schools makes it more likely that you will understand the issues that the public schools face, and that parents with kids in these schools face, because you will be dealing with them more directly day to day."

Are we going to apply the same arguments to the Clintons and the Kennedys and all the other leftist heroes who pass laws about public education while never sending their children {or sometimes themselves ever attending} public schools?

Of course not. The 'skin in the game,' 'moral authority' and 'understanding' points don't matter if you hold the politically correct positions. Which means that Min and Bdog don't really believe their own arguments but need a justification for their biases.

Re: “The Mayoral Stock Index: Welcome Bill Hagerty

I have always thought that "Jim Collins" was a pen name. I just didn't realize that the hand holding the pen was Comrade Bruce Barry himself.

Re: “'Nashville' Has Wandering Eyes, Again

Perhaps if there were an episode where the main 'stars' on the show perform with the Nashville Symphony, Martha Ingram would underwrite a nice subsidy.

Otherwise, let 'em know right now that there will be no new money. If Nashville stands up to 'Nashville' before the series' fate gets decided, we will be in a stronger position with future productions whether this one moves or not.

If we wait and the show is renewed, we will be dealing from weakness. Better to do the right thing now.
