Re: “Women account for less than 5 percent of producers and engineers — but maybe not for long

RE: "KK Profitt says the powers that be are holding the sisters back, but the reality is they're trying to keep the up-and-coming men out too. It's called business. Yes, it's competitive. No, it isn't always about being the best. The guy making the presentation at AES probably told her to shut up because she was being impertinent. "

Actually, no. I've been a full voting member of AES (and NARAS for that matter) for years. I knew and know the rude engineer very well.

The fact is, that particular spec needs to be reworked to be relevant to long-term data storage, something the AES and the labels have not been particularly good at. They've been recommending tape drives for long-term storage, when the manufacturers are shutting that particular area down. I won't be shutting up any time soon on that subject.

"Impertinent?" as in "uppity"? yeah, I've heard that comment...we used to call people who made comments like that "bigots".

As for "keeping the sisters down"... that's just bullshit, quasi-street blather. I never said that and never would say something like that. Get your facts straight.

At least you spelled my name right in your second diatribe (note to the Scene...please fix the spelling of my name in the article, tnx).
