Personally I Do not agree with slaughter. But people are NOT going to stop breeding horses or anything else for that matter. I do NOT agree with the inhumane treatment that any living creature might have to put up with. Wouldn't a slaughter plant in every state help due to the fact that a lot of these injuries are caused by and happen during shipping. More plants equals less time on the trailers and in stockyards. And that equals less danger of injury.
As far as foreign countries eating our drug riddled horses, personally I couldn't care less. It doesn't bother them to send tainted food/feed/petfood/paint/clothing/toys/ to this countryWe are far to lax on that crap. Do we still get stuff from China? After they poisoned a bunch of people and pets, SURE WE DO! To many different countries infractions to list, as we all know China was the most prevalent offender.
But anyway, there is no solution to this problem.
What's better? For a horse to die for several weeks or months of neglect and starvation, or a few days on a truck. At least its faster than starving to death. The bottom line is it all stinks no matter what.
