I am curious why it is right-wing to use the Constitution of the United States to determine what the Federal Government can and can not do when it comes to the rights of the States and the role of the Federal Government. If you would take the time to actually read the Constitution and the subsequent papers that were written by the founders, you would learn more about what was behind the framers and their idea of a 'republic'. Instead you listen to people like Mr. Barry, who definitely has an agenda in his comments and opinions stated.
Mr. Chadwell states that we should teach our children better about government/civics/political science. I totally agree, but does that include the Constitution. Please, before you start to degrade someone who is trying to move this country back to the origins from which it comes from, read the Constitution. You can't take the good parts of the Constitution you like and then throw out the things you don't, it doesn’t work that way.
If you want Jim Cooper to continue to represent the 5th District and you believe in what he stands for, then say so and state why, so people can be informed about why they should support him. If you can’t come up with a reason to support him, then perhaps you should be looking for someone else to support.
There has to come a time when those at opposite poles in the political thinking arena must agree to disagree and that is what makes this Republic great and you can thank those men who actually put their lives on the line to signed the Constitution.
