Canned tomatoes are like frozen peas. they generally only use the best ones. Raw fresh tomatoes all summer and canned (or none) the rest of the year is for me. In New Orleans they auctioned off the first case of creole tomatoes at the farmer's market each year. and like SL said it was always something to look forward to.
I worked at a restaurant that put "fall peaches" on their menu, and that was the straw that broke the camels back.
I love sweetbreads and truffles, foie gras and good caviar. I've eaten at world class restaurants, and like to think I have a pretty refined palate, but I consider taco bell one of my favorite restaurants. I have said many times that about the only way I can be disappointed by taco bell is if they leave something out of my order. Taco Bell always meets my (low) expectations and as long as they fill my order and comply with my request for "more hot sauce than you can imagine" I'll sleep happily on the couch that night.
