Agreed about most everything here, particularly the Skyfall song. And I'm this close to printing up a RIVA t-shirt to help spread awareness, maybe see if I can get anyone to wear it to the ceremony (I'm thinking black type on a pink tee, what do you think?). Lawrence beating Riva is gonna be a historic Oscar blunder... made more ironic by the blunder of Natalie Portman beating Lawrence in WINTER'S BONE a couple years ago. A classic example of the 2-year-delay principle in Oscar awarding.
Would have loved to hear you take a stronger stance against the soaring mediocrity of ARGO and SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, particularly Jennifer Lawrence's ridiculous character which I guess we view differently. As for ARGO, no matter how you look at it (from a statistical or emotional lens), this will be a Best Picture joke for the ages. It's rare enough for a movie to win Best Pic with no best director nomination. And ARGO isn't as offensive as CRASH, but at least CRASH was going for something above average.
And original song has just got to go. Cut the category and put us all out of our misery.
Mr. Pink -- I say the high point of Cornell's career was "Sunshower" from Alfonso Cuaron's GREAT EXPECTATIONS... but that's the 16-year-old lovefool in me talkin.
#RIVA2013
Green Hills? Classic Sony Classics move. When, oh when, will they learn that the Belcourt would bring their films more exposure and more box office in Nashville?
On my top ten of the year. Not just a great film about New Orleans but a great film about the spirit of childhood.
Mayonaise is my #1. Great picks.
Great stuff Jason!
"the most visually adventurous film to emerge from Hollywood's mainstream.".... I'd still give this one to SPEED RACER.
Good to hear there are some great female roles coming at us soon. It's been a terrible year for female actors, aside from ELENA, Rachel Weisz and Hushpuppy...
Re: “Cahiers du Coco: My Journey Through the Janus Films Box Set”
Cool!
